Joining the Da Vinci Programme was one of the best decisions I made during my master’s. While looking for an internship, I came across this practical, research-focused, and multidisciplinary programme, and I didn’t hesitate to apply. I think Da Vinci’s strong points are 1) the collaboration with socially responsible organizations, 2) the focus on personal development through workshops and personal guidance, 3) the involvement of the instructors, and 4) the opportunity to meet students with similar values but different backgrounds and ways of thinking.

Personally, I collaborated with React, an organization that fights counterfeit trade, on a project focused on finding sustainable ways to get rid of all intercepted counterfeit goods. Even without a technical background, I managed to develop a deep understanding of the environmental challenge, and I used my social psychology knowledge and skills to suggest potential solutions to it.

React: A stakeholder view on the Da Vinci Programme
React is always excited to invite young, intelligent students who are curious to work on sustainability challenges. For us as an organization, we are oftentimes caught in a whirlwind of tasks, and it is good to have people from outside our bubble onboard who can offer a new perspective. During the last edition of Da Vinci the students hit a blind spot within our workflow that could have taken us years to find. As a non-profit, we often do not have the time and means to test our assumptions in-depth, but getting the facts straight is essential when we are talking with authorities, our members, and other parties involved. The Da Vinci students helped us to gather information, gain insights, and turn it into a tangible solution which helps us to improve our business.
