If we want to train students for cross-disciplinary collaborations, we need to get rid of the current straitjacket with frameworks like ‘alpha’, ‘beta’ and ‘gamma’. They call for opening up the system and making room for a different approach to the scientific disciplines: the sigma approach. More than 80 scientists, including seven rectors, are signing their plea.
