You are invited to join us for our online Lunch & Learn Lecture. Are you a teacher, researcher, student or in any other way interested in our collaboration? Every month one of our programmes organises a meeting about research and education of the EWUU alliance. The best part? You can join effortlessly from the comfort of your own space – simply tune in via Teams, grab your lunch, and immerse yourself in thought-provoking discussions.

This Lunch & Learn Lecture is organised by the EWUU Institute for Preventive Health.

Co-Creation as a Bridge Between Real-Life Needs and Technological Possibilities

In this session we will explore together how co-creation and participatory research can help connect digital health innovations with people’s real needs, contexts, and lived experiences. The session draws on insights from the LIFTS project, which promotes a sustainable healthy lifestyle among young people with lower literacy levels in practical education. A distinctive element of LIFTS is its use of four living labs where students, parents, teachers, carers, designers, policymakers, and researchers work together.

What to expect
Four PhD candidates of the LIFTS project will share their work on different dimensions of the LIFTS project:

  • Simone Ooms (Utrecht University): on how the mental health of students in practical education can be promoted, and how technology can contribute to a fitting and effective intervention.
  • Daniëlla van Uden (Wageningen University & Research): on how students in practical education can be meaningfully involved in research and how innovations can be sustainably implemented in schools.
  • Madelief Engels (Wageningen University & Research): on how technology can support healthier and more sustainable eating behaviour among students in practical education.
  • Maria Inês Ribeiro (Eindhoven University of Technology): on how personalised and AI-supported digital tools can encourage physical activity, co-designed with students and schools.

The session starts with a short introduction to LIFTS and its co-creation approach, followed by discussion and an open Q&A.
