Public Procurement for a Circular Society

Public procurement has the potential to be one of the most powerful levers for accelerating a circular economy, yet that potential remains largely untapped. As a launching customer, the public sector can drive demand for circular and innovative solutions at scale. So what is holding it back?
During this Lunch & Learn, three experts from academia and practice will explore the current state of circular public procurement: what legislation allows and requires, what the economics tell us, and what it looks like on the ground. Willem Janssen will share insights from CIRCLASH, his NWO-funded research project on circularity and the law. Sara Rademaker will draw on her experience advising public organisations on sustainable procurement. Ruben Nicolas will offer an economic perspective on how green procurement affects innovation and firm behaviour.
The session closes with a Q&A.
